Description

Join PhD student Lucy Burke in this online webinar where she explores the links between why we drink alcohol, who is drinking alcohol-free and low-alcohol drinks, and the implications for health inequalities.

The UK is experiencing unprecedented numbers of people dying from alcohol related illnesses. Alcohol-free and low-alcohol (no/lo) drinks have surged in popularity and have been promoted by the UK Department of Public Health as a public health strategy. However, there is evidence that these drinks are more commonly consumed by the socially advantaged.

Lucy's research delves into the motivations behind alcohol consumption and investigates how these motivations correlate with the adoption of no/lo drinks. By understanding why people choose to drink alcohol in the first place, Lucy aims to shed light on the socio-economic disparities often observed in no/lo consumption.
