葫芦影业 alumnus in China recognised for entrepreneurship

We are delighted to congratulate alumnus Dr Lu Gang (MScEng Data Communication 2002, PhD Computer Science 2008) who has been awarded the British Council鈥檚 2017 Entrepreneurial Alumni Award in China.

The Entrepreneurial Award, which highlights alumni who have played a leading role in business innovation, was presented to Dr Lu Gang at a ceremony in Beijing on Saturday 25 November. Dr Lu is the founder and CEO of , a bilingual technology news platform that covers the latest developments and start-up stories in China. It reaches millions of readers every month and has become a trusted resource for the technology industry.

Upon receiving the award, Lu Gang said:

鈥淩eceiving this Award is a great prize and reward. I cherish the memory of studying in the UK to this day. I owe everything I have to my UK experience.鈥

The prestigious international award celebrates UK higher education and the achievements of alumni from UK institutions all over the world. Now in its fourth year, the award received more than 1,700 applications from international UK alumni in a record 123 countries, representing more than 140 UK higher education institutions across the UK. Following in-depth interviews with a judging panel, recipients were selected for the three award categories: Professional Achievement, Entrepreneurial, and Social Impact.

With more than 600,000 Chinese alumni of a UK education, there is much to celebrate.鈥

China is the first country to host the awards this year and will be followed by awarding ceremonies in a further ten countries, including Ghana, Pakistan, and the USA.
