Profile

I’m a researcher and educator in building science and engineering, interested in developing building physics and machine learning based evidence for net zero energy strategies and related fuel poverty and public health policies in the built environment sector. I'm passionate to achieve this by working at the interface of human health, building design and climate. I specialise in computer modelling and simulation of involved heat and moisture transfer in buildings and by human bodies and understanding their interrelationship to engineer healthier human environments which are resilient and net zero energy in the context of changing climate. I’m an expert in sensitivity and uncertainty analysis of building energy performance prediction and associated gap with measured performance. To that end, I developed the Emulation based Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis (EmUSA) framework that enables model parameter screening and reduction and computational efficiency in conducting the analysis and related performance calibration and validation objectives. This research has an overall impact in improving the performance predictions and closing the gap, in turn modelling and simulation methodologies evidencing reliable and robust support for energy efficiency optimisation and decision making in new and retrofit building design scenarios.

I was a Marie Curie early stage researcher in the field of Smart Cities with Sustainable Energy Technologies in the European commission’s FP7 -ITN CI-NERGY (CIties and eNERGY) project before joining School of Architecture and Landscape at University of ºù«Ӱҵ.
