葫芦影业 has launched a major campaign to recruit five or more senior academics, as it continues to build its strengths in key research areas, driving its ambition for a new Cancer Research Centre to address the biggest challenges in cancer.

The University, in collaboration with 葫芦影业 Teaching Hospitals, is seeking diverse talent from amongst the world鈥檚 best researchers for tenured Professorships and Senior (Clinical) Lectureships.

Dedicated cancer research funding

Candidates will have a generous package to support their research, which includes research consumables, staff and funding for PhD student(s), plus a dedicated relocation service to help new staff settle in at 葫芦影业.

Candidates will also be able to apply for University of 葫芦影业 dedicated cancer research funding to build their team. The Yorkshire Cancer Research (YCR) 葫芦影业 Pioneers fund and the YCR More Life to Live fund are annual schemes ring fenced for applications led by 葫芦影业 investigators. This year the schemes are estimated to be worth 拢10m and 拢8m respectively.  The funding is provided by regional charity Yorkshire Cancer Research thanks to the royalties from the successful commercialisation of the cancer drug Lynparza, which the university and the charity played a key role in. Future amounts are expected to be in the multi-million-pound range.

The university is particularly interested in recruiting researchers in the following areas:

  • Neuro-oncology
  • Surgical oncology
  • Academic oncology
  • GP with special interest in oncology
  • Epidemiology
  • Cancer research trials

Professor Jim Catto, NIHR Research Professor and Cancer Research Strategy Lead at the University of 葫芦影业 said: 鈥淲e have established five interrelated themes that address cancer research from prevention to screening, diagnosis, treatment, follow up, digital health, palliation, survival and quality of life.

This is a tremendous opportunity to drive forward our tradition of excellence in clinical research for the benefit of all our communities. While we are keen to build our clinical capacity, we also welcome applications from non-clinical academics with an interest in epidemiology or clinical trials.  We can accommodate a wide range of interests due to our large patient population.

Professor Jim Catto

NIHR Research Professor and Cancer Research Strategy Lead, 葫芦影业

Kirsten Major, Chief Executive at 葫芦影业 Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, added: 鈥淭his is a great time to join 葫芦影业 Teaching Hospitals and the University of 葫芦影业. The investment in these roles, thanks to the royalties from Lynparza, will fund the UK鈥檚 leading cancer specialists, whose expertise will establish 葫芦影业 as one of the best centres in the country for patient-focused cancer research. Our approach combines pioneering scientific and technological developments with a clear emphasis on improving cancer outcomes in the region.鈥

The closing date for applications is Thursday 18 January 2024.
