The European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) is a non-profit non-governmental, independent organisation of the most distinguished scholars and engineers performing forefront research and the development of advanced technologies, united by a commitment to promoting science and technology and their essential roles in fostering social and economic development. One of the most important objectives of the Academy is the promotion of fundamental research and excellence in science and technology.
Professor Meihong Wang from the School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering became a Fellow of EurASc in October 2024. He said: 鈥淏eing nominated and accepted as a member of The European Academy of Sciences is a great honour. I look forward to working with other fellows in EurASc and contributing to its development.
鈥淚 recently attended the 2024 Symposium & Ceremony of the European Academy of Sciences where industry and academic members joined together under the banner of 鈥楽cience for Sustainability鈥. At the event I was able to meet with other members of EurASc鈥.
EurASc announced Professor Wang鈥檚 fellowship with the following statement: 鈥淲ith expertise in modelling, optimization and control of power plants, carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS), energy storage, and bio-energy, Professor Wang brings a wealth of experience and innovation to the Engineering Division.
鈥淗aving contributed significantly to 30 research projects worth more than 拢20 million, funded by UK Research Councils, the European Commission and industry, his research excellence is evident in his 200+ scientific publications. Recognized as one of the world's top 2% most-cited scientists, Professor Wang's accolades include the Ludwig Mond Prize from IMechE in 2014, the Nigeria Prize for Science in 2019, and the Siemens Process Systems Engineering (PSE) Model-based Innovation (MBI) Prize in 2022.鈥
