We provide scholarships for undergraduates that acknowledge and encourage academic excellence.
Scholarships for home fee paying students
We offer a number of Academic Achievement Scholarships to home fee paying students entering in 2024.
Academic Achievement Scholarships
Scholarships of up to £3,000 will be awarded in recognition of academic excellence to students starting on an undergraduate honours degree programme.
Are you eligible? You must
- achieve the following standard in A Levels or the equivalent in other qualifications, in subjects relevant to the course.
- be from the UK (not be classed as an overseas student for tuition fees purposes).
- have made ºù«Ӱҵ your first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process.
- not have industrial sponsorship for the first year of the course.
- continue on a programme of study owned by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering throughout the first year.

Accepted subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Design & Technology, Geology.

The Scholarship will be paid in a two installments: the first at the beginning of the Autumn semester 2024 and the second at the beginning of the Spring semester 2025. Applicants deferring entry are eligible for consideration for this award; payment will automatically be deferred until October 2025.
Faculty scholarships for overseas fee paying students
The Faculty of Engineering offers scholarships of up to £3,000 to overseas fee paying students with established and continued academic excellence who are starting an undergraduate degree with a department within the Faculty.

University bursaries for home fee paying undergraduate students
Students can apply for cash support from the University in the form of a bursary (free money that doesn't have to be paid back). You will receive the same amount for each year of your course, including a year spent studying abroad should you choose to do this. The size of the bursary is dependent on household income, postcode and grades.
