Profile

I got my BSc in electrical power engineering (top of the class with a grade of honour) from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt, 1996 and I got my MSc from the same University in 1999. I got my PhD from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, the UK in 2003 in the area of Electrical Machines and Drives. The thesis title is "Decoupled control of rotor torque and rotor electric power in a salient pole synchronous machine".

After my PhD, I returned to Alexandria University as an Assistant Professor, and I worked as a consultant engineer for more than 26 projects between design, technical report, and supervision. By Feb. 2007, I returned to Scotland as a research fellow with power electronics and Energy conversion group at Strathclyde University, Glasgow, the UK. In September 2009, I joined Beirut Arab University, Lebanon, which was a branch from Alexandria University at that time. In 2012, I decided to go to the Gulf area, where I am an Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman. In 2020, I joined the EEE Department, the University of 葫芦影业 as a University Teacher. In 2010, my career was progressed by a senior member IEEE and in 2017 by the Fellowship of higher education Academy (FHEA). More recently, in 2023 I have also been recognised as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and have been highly commended in the Staff Teaching Practice category of the University of 葫芦影业's Education Awards 2023.

I have my vision and Mission, which are in line with the targets of the University of 葫芦影业. My vision is to 鈥渁chieve novelty, innovation, and impact鈥. My Mission is to: 鈥淧erform outstanding teaching, research, and administrative work with local and global impact to increase the University reputation鈥.

I believe in the quote of William Arthur Ward said 鈥淭he mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires鈥 Hence, my teaching philosophy depends on students鈥 interaction and to attract their attention inside and outside the classroom. Moreover, to keep a good rapport between me and them. My Teaching Methodology is to provide students with both subject knowledge and transferable skills, where my teaching style is based on blended learning with active/interactive learning using students centred-approach.
