- Profile

My technical specialisms are in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, energy engineering and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). I am a graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of 葫芦影业, where he also conducted my PhD research into regenerative fuel cell systems for energy storage. After a series of post-doctoral positions, including at the Health and Safety Executive modelling fluid flow and a research fellow at the University of Leeds simulating explosive shock dynamics, in 2008 I took up a lectureship at 葫芦影业 Hallam University. In 2009, I was promoted to senior lecturer and was responsible for leading the thermofluids teaching group. In 2013, I won the 葫芦影业 Hallam Inspirational Teacher Award.
I rejoined the University of 葫芦影业 as part of Multidisciplinary Engineering Education in 2015, helping to set up the new department. I am responsible for designing and delivering the teaching in the Fluids Engineering laboratory in the Diamond, supporting students on programmes including mechanical, civil, aerospace and general engineering. While in post, I have taken on the positions of Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching followed by Deputy Head of Department. I sit on the Department鈥檚 Executive and ED&I Committee and is part of the University's Digital Strategic Advisory Group. In 2022 I was appointed as Head of Department.

- Teaching interests
-
I am interested in two aspects of teaching: Practical Engineering Education and teaching at scale. The teaching that occurs in the department of Multidisciplinary Engineering Education is on the nexus of these two interests.
- Teaching activities
-
CFD teaching for the following cohorts of students:
- 2nd year Mechanical Engineering
- 2nd year Aerospace Engineering
- 2nd year General Engineering
