Event details

Description

Antimicrobial Resistant (AMR) superbugs are unresponsive to life-saving antibiotics and pose a major threat to global human health with the worst estimates predicting 10 million annual deaths by 2050. They are not a new phenomenon with their existence noted shortly after the release of the first antibiotics in the 1940s, but the continued overuse of antibiotics has led to the development of ever more resistant pathogenic strains.

This symposium will focus on AMR superbugs, their impact in the UK and globally as well as highlight possible strategies to combat them.
