Dr Steve Thornton has been invited to contribute to Defra's Science Advisory Council, where he will undertake a review with experts of the environmental risk and water quality impacts posed by carcass burial sites arising from the 2001 outbreak.
The review will seek to assess the current status of these sites and recommend appropriate management measures that mitigate any identified environmental risk.
