Academic clinical fellowships in Respiratory Medicine
There is a very diverse range of research in respiratory medicine at ºù«Ӱҵ. The clinical academic staff include Professor Ian Sabroe and Professor Stephen Renshaw (Sir Arthur Hall Professor of Medicine), Professor Alison Condliffe, and Dr Roger Thompson (BHF Intermediate Fellow). You can find individual links to these investigators through the department web pages listed below.
The clinical academics have interests in lung inflammation, immunity, and diseases ranging from asthma to interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension (). There is a very active NHS research group working in pulmonary hypertension (ºù«Ӱҵ is a national centre for this) led by Professor David Kiely. Health services research funded by the NIHR and focused on improving the care of people with cystic fibrosis is led by Dr Martin Wildman.
Occupational lung disease research in collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive is led by Prof David Fishwick. There are strong collaborations to the internationally regarded imaging programmes led by Prof Jim Wild (/polaris/home), which study the imaging of the heart, lungs and airways. We also collaborate widely with the infectious diseases teams. We work closely with the NHS through the work of the Trust’s Academic Directorate of Respiratory Medicine, and many of our interests are summarised here:
We have high quality facilities within the labs at the Dept of Infection, Immunity and Cardiovascular Disease and the Bateson Institute, and we work closely with other departments. For further information, please contact Ian Sabroe or other academics as required.
