Knowledge translation with professionals and policy makers
Led by Professor Alan Walker and Professor Paul Martin, we're maximising the potential for knowledge transfer and knowledge exchange with professional and policy-making communities (to ensure impact of HELSI research).
Changing society
We reject the notion that academic researchers are the sole experts in the fields of ageing, frailty and multimorbidity. Instead, we seek a research model that is embedded in the real-world experiences of service users, carers and practitioners.
We are also implementing knowledge exchange initiatives with local and national policy-making communities to ensure public health and social care policies benefit people throughout their lives, avoiding adverse effects on ageing and reducing the gap between the richest and poorest in society.
UKAge Net
Professor Ilaria Bellantuono and Professor Alan Walker founded , bringing together 69 centres and networks with an interest in research on ageing with an aim to speak to policy makers with one voice. The Healthy Lifespan Institute will use the channels developed through UKAgeNet to influence policy and realise the impact of its research.
