Profile

I gained my Ph.D. from the University of ºù«Ӱҵ, where I also studied at BA and MA level.

My doctoral research focused on anarchism in Spain, with a particular focus on the movement’s grassroots printing culture over the turn of the twentieth century.

This work was supported by a University of ºù«Ӱҵ scholarship and research grants from the Royal Historical Society.

I taught at the Department of History from 2011 to 2019. In 2014 I assisted in the organisation of an international conference on the Spanish Civil War at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ, details and videos of which are available .

Research interests

My research focuses on modern Spain, from the Restoration to the Second Republic and Civil War. My continuing interest lies primarily with the history of anarchism and anarchist movements, above all the interactions between ideology, political economy and culture, and between the local, regional, national arenas. These interests led to my doctoral research on grassroots printing culture within the Spanish movement, which will form the basis of my first monograph.

My most recent publications have sought to expand this focus internationally, with an emphasis on transnational connections and exchanges between radical movements across Europe and Latin America. Future research plans include an investigation into anarchist memoir as a means of furthering his investigations into print and radical politics.
