Why did you choose to study MA Cultural Data Management and Communication?
I went through trying to find aspects of my course that would intertwine with what I’ve studied (Undergraduate Journalism and Mass Communication) but at the same time shape me with practical skill sets I needed for my future, as I came into this with a career based outlook this course had a balance of skill sets of the major roles I want to strive towards!
What made you want to study in the UK and specifically the University of ºù«Ӱҵ?
The University Of ºù«Ӱҵ showed up when I researched for universities with their digital humanities department and the fact that it won a lot of awards for their research and had the best student union helped me understand that this is the kind of institution that goes well with my goals and is the one I’m looking for.
What do you enjoy most about your programme?
I do enjoy that there is a lot of additional help with the course I study which covers multiple aspects of the Humanities, where it’s not just theory but we get workshops which give you a platform to look at it from a practical setting as well. The core modules have a wide range of futuristic tech to learn about as well.
What is the postgraduate community like in your department?
It is a wholesome community that is extremely helpful and quick with their response exactly when you need it.
What is your favourite thing about the city of ºù«Ӱҵ?
The town is quaint but has lively activities to engage students. It has a balance of both greenery and fun filled activities to partake in!
What skills have you developed during your course that will be useful after you graduate?
My communication and collaborative skills within a group have been enhanced and I have enjoyed mentoring and taking over some decisions within a group which makes me inclined to try out for leadership roles in my future.
What advice would you give students thinking about doing your course?
It is a well structured course in the Digital Humanities that draws from Culture Studies within Data Management fields but it also gives you insight into learning about how it’s influenced by futuristic tech. This helps you have a broad range of career experiences to choose from!
