Call for papers
This conference is taking a progressive approach to contributions, seeking input from chaplaincy practitioners in higher education as well as from those researching and writing about chaplaincy and religion in education.
Call for Papers has reopened, and will be remaining open until 19 April 2022
Read through the information below to get an idea of what we are looking for and how you might be able to participate.
How could I contribute?
There is plenty of space within the conference programme for chaplaincy staff to present details of their own practice. We are inviting you to offer a contribution in one of the following ways:
- Poster: prepare a poster to exhibit and discuss
- Ignite: give a 5-minute talk with up to 20 slides
- Campfire: present for 10-15 minutes and then facilitate discussions for a further 15 minutes
- Reading group: nominate a reading (article, report, book) as stimulus for a group discussion
- Walkshop: laminated cards questions are given out and people are encouraged to walk and talk around given topics
- Workshop: of varying lengths and styles
- Alternatives: if you have an idea for a session not represented here, then please suggest
What themes can I present on?
We have three key themes:
- Liberty
- Legacy
- Leadership
We also have four sub-themes:
- Chaplaincy and extremism
- Chaplaincy and empowerment
- Chaplaincy and research
- Chaplaincy and spirituality and well-being
The themes and the sub-themes overlap, so rather than choosing just one you might identify which themes and/or sub-themes relate to the idea you want to explore.
It is worth noting that the four sub-themes will be explored in greater depth at the pre-conference. If you would like to make a more substantial contribution to one of the sub-themes then please consider registering for the pre-conference to offer a session then.

If you have a second and even a third idea then there is space to identify those here too. All your proposals will be peer-reviewed by suitably qualified chaplaincy practitioners and researchers.
