The event is free of charge and places are available on a first come, first served basis. RSVP by 31 May 2024. Special Dietary Requests: Please note for registrations received after 31 May 2024, we may not be able to cater for specific dietary requests on the day. Vegan and vegetarian will be catered for. There is a cafe in the Wave which may be able to cater to dietary requests.

Exciting fundamental science and beyond: from innovative research to translation and commercialisation.

**Abstract submissions have closed**

This full day event is an opportunity for our members, funding agencies, regulatory agencies, industrial colleagues, and other academic groups in the UK to meet and see first-hand the innovative research produced by our Institute.

The day will feature:

  • A plenary talk from  , Professor of Physical Chemistry, University College London;
  • Sessions from our five research themes:  Biomaterials / Biomechanics / Cell engineering; Computational modelling in medicine; Imaging life; Smart devices and sensors; and Healthcare data / AI;
  • Early Career Researcher presentations â€“ hear about emerging research with perspectives from the next generation of researchers;
  • Poster exhibition
  • Networking opportunities with industry, funders, academics and clinicians.

Abstract submission (now closed):

We are keen to showcase our PhD student and ECR research in our poster exhibition, please submit an abstract of your research (this could be based on an existing poster) when you register. The poster exhibition is a great opportunity to speak about your research to other Insigneo members and academics. There is also the opportunity that you may be invited to present in one of our research theme sessions during the day. We are offering three poster prizes this year (see below for details). 

The deadline for abstract submissions for the poster display is 8 April 2024. To submit an abstract you will need to register for the Insigneo Showcase. You will be asked if you wish to submit an abstract as part of this process.

Insigneo Poster Prize

We are pleased to offer a prize for the best poster for each research theme at the Insigneo Showcase this year. There will be a £50 prize for the best poster, judged by a Research Theme Director.

Best Overall Student Poster that represents both Insigneo research and the field of chemistry  - sponsored by the Society of Chemical Industry, Yorkshire & Humber Committee 

We are also pleased to offer a prize sponsored by the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), Yorkshire & Humber Committee of £50 and a year's membership of the Society. This will be awarded to a student whose poster represents both Insigneo Research and the field of chemistry. The winning poster will be chosen by Professor Ipsita Roy, on behalf of the committee. 

Best Yorkshire & Humber Student Poster that represents both Insigneo research and the field of chemistry  - sponsored by the Society of Chemical Industry, Yorkshire & Humber Committee 

We are also pleased to offer a prize sponsored by the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), Yorkshire & Humber Committee of £50 and a year's membership of the Society. This will be awarded to a student from the Yorkshire & Humber region whose poster represents both Insigneo Research and the field of chemistry. The winning poster will be chosen by Professor Ipsita Roy, on behalf of the committee.

General terms

Posters are only eligible to receive one prize.  Prizes are available only to posters displayed on the day. Prizes will be announced at the end of the day and awarded as a voucher. A choice of voucher will be available and emailed to the winner after the day.  The Society of Chemical Industry, Yorkshire and Humber Committee will provide a letter detailing how to claim the prize.
