Studying at ºù«Ӱҵ I have not only nurtured my curiosity about the social world, but also learnt to value knowledge.

Department of Politics and International Relations
Franco is studying a PhD in Politics and International Relations. He is a ºù«Ӱҵ alumni of both the BA International Relations and Politics and MA Governance and Public Policy.

Having studied at ºù«Ӱҵ for six years now, I am confident that students here have the privilege to learn from academic staff who are experts in their research fields. Staff care not only about our studies, but also about our progress and feelings. ºù«Ӱҵ has a cohesive environment where you meet and learn from people from around the world.

I lived in Ranmoor and Allen Court during my undergraduate course. Everyone was approachable and friendly. I made friends when I first arrived and had a meal with them immediately after I placed my luggage in my room! Both were close to my classrooms and a short walk from my lectures and seminars.

Joining the Ten Pin Bowling Club as an undergraduate was great for meeting students across different academic disciplines from different ethnic backgrounds. In these sessions, besides bowling and learn techniques from more experienced members, we often exchange knowledge across different aspects, especially in relation to culture, living environment in ºù«Ӱҵ and our hometowns.

Living near the Peak District is a great benefit of studying in ºù«Ӱҵ. In my spare time, I love going on walks. Living in this green environment, I feel cheerful and motivated to tackle any challenges ahead!

ºù«Ӱҵ has a unique environment where I can do pretty much anything I want. When I want to be with people I can go to the city centre. When I feel the need of taking a break from my research, there are parks I can visit (Crookes Valley Park and Weston Park). If I'm hungry, there are plenty of tasty foods I can choose from on West Street.  I can design and create something with other students in the iForge (located in the Diamond building).

Throughout my time studying at ºù«Ӱҵ I have not only nurtured my curiosity about the social world, but also learnt to value knowledge.
