I am an international lawyer with expertise in international economic law. I joined the University of 葫芦影业 in May 2022 as a Lecturer in International Trade Law and I convene the UG and PG International Trade Law modules at the School of Law. I am also the International Mooting module's convenor and the 葫芦影业 team's academic advisor, participating in the John H. Jackson WTO Moot Court Competition.
My expertise and research interests lie in diverse areas of Public International Law, including international dispute settlement, the law on State responsibility, and the law of treaties, with a particular focus on their application in the context of international trade and investment disputes. My current research projects focus on gender and trade and the legality of economic sanctions.
To briefly outline my professional and academic background, I have studied law at the University of Oxford (DPhil; MPhil; MJur), the University of Athens (LLM in Public International Law; LLB), and Columbia Law School (Fulbright-Schuman Visiting Scholar). I have taught Public International Law as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Oxford Law Faculty and as a tutor in law at several Oxford colleges. I also have extensive experience in international mooting. From 2018 to 2020, I was the Oxford Law Faculty mooting coordinator. I have coached the Jessup teams of both the Athens Law School (2016) and the University of Oxford (2018), as well as the Athens WTO team (2015). As a team member, I was part of the Athens Law School team for the 2011 Jessup International Law Moot Court (ranked 15/140 at the International Rounds; 3rd best applicant memorial award) and the 2014 WTO Moot Court (won the World Finals).
I completed my legal traineeship at a leading criminal law firm in Athens, Greece (2014-2016), and I am admitted to practice law in Greece (Athens Bar). In 2020-2021, I also worked as a trainee at the Legal Service of the European Commission (CFSP and external relations team).

My doctoral dissertation explored the availability of the defences codified in Part I, Chapter V of the Articles on the Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts in international adjudication. It focused on disputes before the International Court of Justice, the WTO Dispute Settlement System and Investment Arbitration. I am currently expanding my research on this topic, particularly on aspects relating to the legality of economic sanctions.
I am also working on issues relating to gender and trade. I investigate the ways in which trade liberalisation affects the degree to which women can enjoy or exercise their human rights in their different roles (entrepreneurs, workers, consumers) and the ways in which the WTO framework can be re-interpreted or amended so that trade regulations and policies contribute towards (inclusive) gender equality.
