A profile of Dr Dave Forrest and Professor Sue Vice.
After completing his BA, MA, and PhD here at ºù«Ӱҵ, David Forrest joined the School of English in 2012 as Lecturer in Film Studies, and is now Senior Lecturer.
Dr Forrest has published widely on British cinema and television drama with a focus on social realism and the British New Wave. He is currently undertaking a number of projects on the representation of the North of England in film and television drama, exploring in particular questions of genre, stardom and authorship.
Sue Vice worked at the publishers Basil Blackwell before coming to ºù«Ӱҵ in 1989. She is Professor of English Literature in the School of English and a former head of department.
Professor Vice has published widely on literary theory, film, and literature with particular focus on representations of the Holocaust through titles including Holocaust Fiction (2000), Shoah (2011), and Textual Deceptions: Literary Hoaxes and False Memoirs in the Contemporary Era (2014).
In 2018, David Forrest and Sue Vice co-authored the book Barry Hines: Kes, Threads and Beyond. The book is the first full length study of the complete writings of Barry Hines, including his unpublished works which are part of the Hines Papers and kept in the University Library’s Special Collections.
