Ning Qin has been a Professor of Aerodynamics in our Department of Mechanical Engineering since 2003. Before moving to ºù«Ӱҵ he was Professor of Computational Aerodynamics between 1999-2003 at Cranfield University. He obtained his PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1987 from the University of Glasgow on the subject of computational aerodynamic prediction of hypersonic heating on space planes.
Professor Qin teaches in the Mechanical and Aerospace BEng/MEng and MSc programmes including Wind Turbine Aerodynamics(MEC316) and Compressible Flows(MEC449). He has conducted research in the development of computational fluid dynamics and its application to aircraft, gas turbines and wind turbines with over 300 publications. He has successfully supervised and graduated over 40 PhD students. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He serves as an Associate Editor for RAeS Aeronautical Journal and IMechE Journal of Aerospace Engineering.
