Internationalisation Challenge
In today's globalised world, an increasing number of companies are extending their operations beyond their home countries. However, venturing into foreign markets requires extensive due diligence and market intelligence to reduce risks and achieve success. While there are numerous success stories, there are also significant instances of failures.
This module, therefore, presents theories and current practices essential for management professionals to understand to develop, lead, and manage business operations in international markets. It encompasses a variety of topics, including strategies for market entry into foreign territories, the acquisition of intelligence on countries and markets, international finance, global trade, multinational enterprises (MNEs) and the management of worldwide supply chains.
As a practical application of the module, you will work in a team to carry out a project in collaboration with a real-world company interested in exploring opportunities in international markets. This project is a crucial component of the assessment, and you are also expected to compile a report that reflects on your learning experiences while working on the group project.
Student testimonies
Angelina shared her reflections about the skills she developed during the Internationalisation Challenge.
I highly valued the Challenge modules, such as the Marketing Consultancy Challenge and the Internationalisation Challenge, as they were very practical and helped me to understand more about real-world business problems and how to solve them. I got to work with and interview UK government officials and business owners which was a very insightful and unforgettable experience.

Joanna enjoyed her experience supporting local manufacturer Anchor Magnets with their internationalisation strategy.
It was great experience working with Anchor Magnets for our Internationalisation Project. There were two groups working with them on different objectives: one focused on the expansion into existing markets, while the other explored expansion into new countries. The team at Anchor Magnets were great to work with, always available when we needed them and made the right people available to us. Throughout the project, they gave us fantastic feedback and engagement during our presentation. They were pleased with the outcomes and very accepting of our action plan. It was a great pleasure to work with them.

Client testimonies
Our ºù«Ӱҵ MBA students have a real impact on the companies they work with. We caught up with Nik from Invest ºù«Ӱҵ on how the Internationalisation Challenge benefitted his organisation.
I was very impressed with the level of detail and work undertaken, and it has certainly given us some 'food for thought' in terms of how we can encourage ºù«Ӱҵ businesses to engage with their counterparts overseas. The work has provided us with a useful insight into market opportunities with three of ºù«Ӱҵ's long-standing Partner Cities - Bochum; Kawasaki and Pittsburgh.

Karen Hughes, Group Talent Director at Genuit Group, reflected on the value of the insight ºù«Ӱҵ MBA students offered to her company.
At Genuit, a core part of our strategy is Growth, and we recognised the opportunity to work with groups of MBA students from ºù«Ӱҵ on elements of our plans. We have gained fresh unbiased insight and ideas that we will be able to explore further.
