Professor Karen Niven and Professor Damian Hodgson take on Associate Dean roles

Following an internal recruitment process, ºù«Ӱҵ University Management School announces their new Associate Deans for One University and for Research and Innovation.

Karen Niven and Damian Hodgson.

We are delighted to announce Professor Karen Niven as our new Associate Dean for One University and Professor Damian Hodgson as our new Associate Dean for Research and Innovation.

Professor Karen Niven joined the Management School in March 2022 as a Professor of Organisational Psychology. Her research focuses on relationships within the workplace, with particular interests in how our actions shape the feelings of others and how people respond when they witness mistreatment in the workplace.

In the One University role, Karen’s priority will be to ensure that the Management School is a place where people feel part of an inclusive and diverse community within which they are supported to flourish and progress. Karen will have a particular focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) issues, wellbeing, and development.

Professor Damian Hodgson joined the Management School in March 2020 and is a Professor of Organisation Studies. His research focuses on the reorganisation of health and care, examining workforce transformation, the implementation of new roles and the integration of health care.

In the Research and Innovation role, Damian’s priority will be to ensure that the Management School has the culture and systems in place to help staff to do research that makes a real difference, and has a positive impact on working lives, organisations and societies worldwide.

I’m looking forward to working with Karen and Damian in their new capacities. They both bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their new roles. Damian will play a pivotal role in encouraging and increasing the real-world impact of our research, and publicising the difference we are already making through all of our research. Karen will lead our work in equality, diversity and inclusivity including enhancing gender equality in senior levels and leadership positions within the school.
