Festival of the Mind returned to ºù«Ӱҵ from 15 to 25 September 2022. The festival hosted over 50 free events across the city where academics from the University of ºù«Ӱҵ collaborated with local creatives to bring exciting, entertaining and innovative research to the public.

Former Lecturer in Arts Management, Dr Alexandra Woodall, contributed to a film displayed as part of Festival of the Mind.

is a film exploring the stories of women+ musicians in the city, and is a collaboration between Dr Alexandra Woodall and audio producer, singer and DJ Kitty Turner.

Is ºù«Ӱҵ's musical history simply a tale of men and their machines? Or is there more to it? Can objects spark new stories? Alex and her collaborators thought there were missing narratives so they invited women+ to share their experiences of music making in ºù«Ӱҵ through sharing an object.

Along with a creative workshop about the role objects can play in research, teaching and organisations run by Alex in the Spiegeltent, the Object|ified film has been on show in Event Central on Fargate, ºù«Ӱҵ, UK.

Meanwhile, Dr Stephen Allen, alongside Dr Judith Krauss, Professor Renee Timmers and Dr Matt Watson, has explored why people fly.

Visual artist Gina Allen and musician and audio and video producer Kitty Turner have created , an immersive visual-audio exhibition that will help individuals to consider and respond to their own and others’ attitude to flying-less.

The exhibition has been taking place in the Millennium Gallery in ºù«Ӱҵ, UK and is now available to view online and give feedback. There is also a podcast about the creative processes which produced the visuals and soundscape. The online immersive visual-audio exhibition is available for everybody to use as part of conversations about flying-less.
