My Career - Arts Education and Marketing
Why did you choose to study a Music degree at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ?
When I came to an Open Day at ºù«Ӱҵ it felt really welcoming (despite the rain). The staff and students were really friendly and it instantly felt like home.
Tell us about your current role: what do you do and what are your main responsibilities?
In my current role I am responsible for producing a range of marketing materials for print, digital and social media channels, sometimes working with photographers and videographers to create content. I regularly coordinate events such as Open Day and school visits to the RCM and deliver talks to young musicians at schools around the UK.
What has been your career pathway since graduating from the University of ºù«Ӱҵ? Where else have you worked?
I started my career in marketing while I was studying for my MA at ºù«Ӱҵ, I was a the marketing intern for the University's concert series. After graduating I worked in Corporate Communications at TUoS and did some freelance social media work before moving to London. My advice to current students would be to make the most of opportunities offered to you and build as much experience as you can alongside studying.
What do you think is the most exciting thing you've done as part of your current role?
Graduation is always exciting and it is great to celebrate student achievements. I spend the graduation period working with a videographer, interviewing students and creating videos for them to look back on. Freshers' Week is also exciting, there is a real buzz around the RCM with lots of activities and talks for new students to get involved with.
