Research interests

PhD title: Women and Unfree Labour: A Feminist Political Economy Account.

Primary Supervisor: Dr Matthew L Bishop

Secondary Supervisors: Dr David Duriesmith

Her current PhD research is investigating the impact of social systems of oppression such as gender and race in shaping the vulnerability of workers to exploitation and forced labour in the global economy. Special attention will be given to the 'everyday' experiences of women workers and racialized workers, their stories, their struggle but also their agency and acts of resistance. The research is grounded in the analysis of a particular industry and its domestic supply and recruitment chains, namely the agri-food sector in a European context.
