Accreditations
Our Campus Safety and Security Services team is recognised by a number of schemes who certify standards in security and safety.
Secured Environments
In 2021, the University of ºù«Ӱҵ was awarded Secured Environments accreditation for second time, a police certification scheme for organisations that demonstrate six key principles for protecting themselves against crime. The first time we achieved this was 2018.
It recognises that we adhere to their high standards on our academic campus, University-owned accommodation and the University of ºù«Ӱҵ Innovation District. This accreditation reassures the University community that we are committed to security and safety, and that this has been independently audited against a set of standards outlined by the National Police Chiefs’ Council.
Achieving this certification has been a University-wide effort, from the Vice-Chancellor and University Executive Board, to senior management, the Campus Safety and Security Services team and the many colleagues who supported us.
The Secured Environments accreditation is valid for three years and will benefit staff, students, visitors to campus and the local community, as well as the University’s business and research interests. It shows that our security practices and processes are at a high standard and the Security Services team will ensure this remains the case.
Office of the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner - Certificate of Compliance
Whilst not required in law to comply with the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Code of Practice, the University are voluntarily inspected for compliance. We have achieved the Certificate of Compliance from the Office of the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner for both Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Body Worn Video (BWV).
