- Profile
-
I graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1997 with an MA (Hons) in French Studies, after which I went to teach English in Dakar, Senegal. My time in West Africa sharpened my interest in all things extra-hexagonal, and I returned to Aberdeen to study for a PhD on the links between publishing and literary discourses of identity in francophone African literature. I taught at Aberdeen for four years before coming to ºù«Ӱҵ in 2002.
- Research interests
-
My main areas of interest lie in the problematic nature of the 'post(-)colonial'; post(-)colonial discourses of identity; the politics and economics of publishing in former colonies; francophone African literature; and the literature surrounding the Rwandan genocide. I am founding member of the SOMLAL Postcolonial and Migration Studies research cluster.
