Julie Ratcliffe was appointed as Professor in Health Economics within Flinders Clinical Effectiveness in the School of Medicine at Flinders University in August 2010. Previous to this appointment Julie has held academic positions within the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at ºù«Ӱҵ University, the Health Economics Research Group (HERG) at Brunel University and the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) at the University of Aberdeen. Julie holds a PhD in Health Economics and she has established a strong track record in health economics research and teaching.
Julie has established a strong track record in health economics research. She has been a chief investigator on 29 research grants totaling over $16 million. She has over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals, including some of the most prestigious international health journals such as the British Medical Journal, Health Economics, and Social Science and Medicine. She has co-authored 32 commissioned reports and discussion papers. She has also written a book commissioned by Oxford University Press with Professor John Brazier and colleagues (Measuring and Valuing Health Benefits for Economic Evaluation, Brazier J, Ratcliffe J, Salamon J and Tsuchiya A, OUP, 2007 – second edition recently commissioned for 2014) and three book chapters.
She is currently Head of Flinders Health Economics Group (Flinders Health Care and Workforce Innovation) and Chair of the Flinders Centre for Clinical Change and Health Care Research, a Flinders University collaborative of over 80 members focusing in the translation of evidence to clinical outcomes across multiple health care disciplines.
