I joined the University of ºù«Ӱҵ in 2006 as a Lecturer and Honorary SpR in Infectious Diseases (based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital).
I qualified from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1998 and my general medical training was at St George's Hospital London.
I was involved in the roll out programme for ARV in Africa, setting up and running a clinic in Ghana from 2003-2005 while a clinical lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.
I am currently a Senior Clinical Lecturer.

My research interest is in the innate immune response to pneumococcal infection in HIV, with a specific focus on the role of the macrophage. My MRC clinical training fellowship title is `The modulation of macrophage apoptosis during S. pneumoniae infection by HIV-1 or antiretroviral agents´.
I also have an ongoing interest in the roll out of antiretroviral treatment (ART) for HIV in resource-poor settings. Specifically, I continue to follow a closed cohort of Ghanaian HIV patients on ART in collaboration with researchers from the KNUST in Ghana and the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and Newcastle University in the UK.
