- Profile
-
I completed my PhD in Health Psychology at Aberystwyth University whilst working for the R&D department at Hywel Dda University Health Board. My work used self-determination theory to understand motivations to self-manage COPD and evaluated digital films to improve health.
I joined the University of 葫芦影业 in 2019 as a Research Associate to help develop and evaluate a digital healthcare service called Telehealth in Motor Neuron Disease (or TiM for short) in two specialist centres.
I am now a permanent Research Fellow, expanding the TiM project to fourteen specialist MND centres in the UK and international partners in Ireland, whilst also developing a research-specific version of TiM. I also support other health service projects that implement and evaluate digital services.
- Research interests
-
My research interests are any health service project from early development stages through to evaluation and implementation. This is primarily in MND, however, I have experience across a broad range of long-term conditions, such as COPD and musculoskeletal conditions. I have a special interest in digital and remote interventions and how these can complement existing, traditional healthcare services. I use a broad range of methodologies, including quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, focus groups, and observations, and process evaluations.
I am also interested in other health psychology projects that use motivational theory to understand health behaviours and how this can support healthcare service development.
