I joined the University of ºù«Ӱҵ in 2021 as an NIHR clinical lecturer in primary care. I am a GP and I divide my time between the university and clinical practice.
I qualified in medicine at Fudan University in Shanghai. I specialised in anaesthesia and was awarded an MD. I then came to the UK and gained a PhD in Biology at the University of York. I continued working in laboratory medicine as a post-doctoral research fellow, before returning to clinical practice in 2014, completing my RCGP training in 2020.

My main research interests are in the field of care for older adults with complex needs. I am particularly interested in improving cancer survivor’s quality of life. I am currently carrying out research around improving bone health for patients with prostate cancer receiving hormone treatment. I am a Prostate Cancer UK Clinical Champion.
I am also interested in health equality and inclusive research. My research in prostate cancer helped set up 1 in 4 ºù«Ӱҵ Prostate Cancer Support Group (1in4SPSG), which is the first support group for black men with prostate cancer in Yorkshire.
As an academic GP, I am also the research lead of the ºù«Ӱҵ South East Research Group (SSEGP), acting as the site PI in supporting clinical studies with the NIHR clinical research network and local NHS trusts.

- Engagement with a local African-Caribbean community to explore perspectives and research priorities among black men for prostate cancer using a co-participatory approach (co-PI, 2022)
- Assessment and management of fracture risk in men with prostate cancer taking androgen deprivation therapy using a primary care database (PI, 2021-2023)
- A survey of bone health knowledge for patients with prostate cancer (PI, 2023 ongoing)
- Co-producing a primary care – led intervention to reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures in men living with prostate cancer receiving androgen deprivation therapy (PI, 2024 ongoing)
- Dementia and ethnicity exploring cultural understandings, access to diagnosis and uptake of services through Photovoice and co-production (co-applicant, 2023 ongoing)

I supervise SSC students with their research projects during their medical degree training.
I provide regular supervision of GP registrars, medical students, Physicians Associates during clinical
practice.I have co-supervised medical students, master’s and PhD students with their research projects.
