Profile

Allan studied social work at the University of Birmingham, qualifying in 1990. He studied to become a solicitor at the University of Central England, being admitted to the roll of solicitors in 2000. He undertook a Masters at the University of Birmingham, in Social Research and Reflective Professional Practice, graduating in 2014.

Allan is a practitioner who remains in independent social work practice and is registered with Social Work England. He also lectures at the Universities of Birmingham and Chester.

Allan’s principal interests are the intersection of social work and law, and arising from that:

  • Human Rights and their significance to social work practice
  • Social Work in Courtroom settings
  • Law and Ethics
  • Enquiries and Serious Case Reviews
