I joined the Urban Institute in November 2016 having gained a doctorate from the Department of Geography, Durham University following degrees from University of Leeds (BA Hons) and University of Manchester (MA). Prior to my appointment, I worked on a number of research projects at the London School of Economics and Durham University.
As an urban geographer, I have developed an interest in the uneven ways in which infrastructure has come to be planned, operationalised and experienced. This work has taken me to a range of cities across global Norths and Souths as I generated a postcolonial mode of theorising these networks, paying attention to the ways in which finance, urban politics, everyday interactions and visions of futurity come to shape the infrastructural terrain. Over the next few years I will be leading a ERC project, GlobalCORRIDOR investigating the role of new infrastructure corridors in shaping the urbanisation process and inequality in a series of global regions. I am also part of a team examining how agglomeration economics have shaped the transformation of UK cities in recent years.
