Department Director of Learning and Teaching Dr Maria Gil Molto has received a Teaching Excellence in Social Sciences award for outstanding practice.

Under Maria’s leadership, a new curriculum has been developed for all economics undergraduate degrees starting in 2020. The new curriculum will provide new flexible pathways for students to help them build their academic and professional skills.

Students will be able to undertake new degrees which emphasise the rigorous methods of modern economics, alongside modules which require interaction with real economic policy.

There are new modules being developed in contemporary fields including public, environmental and behavioural economics.

Furthermore, Maria was commended on her work consulting on the new curriculum with a number of stakeholders including employers and students.

More information on the new undergraduate curriculum for 2020 will become available later this year.
