Work placements (Degree with a placement year)
Most of our courses provide the opportunity to study your degree with a placement year. Undertaking a year-long paid work placement will provide valuable experience in applying your economics knowledge and skills to the work environment.
These optional placements take place in the third year of study and you will return to ºù«Ӱҵ for your fourth and final year. Recent student placements have been with the Bank of England, IBM, Lloyds Bank and Volkswagen.
You are expected to apply for placements yourself, but guidance and support is provided throughout the process.
Placements can be excellent preparation for entering the job market and your experience can help you secure a job with a top employer after you graduate.

SEED has been especially equipped to help Economics students achieve their career goals. Their website offers lots of information and resources to students at various stages in their employability journey.
Careers and Employability Service
The university has its own Careers and Employability service to ensure students graduate with the skills and confidence needed to achieve the future they want. They offer a range of online resources, events throughout the year and offer one-to-one appointments.
Thanks to the help of my careers adviser, I won an internship at Deutsche Bank in London as a Financial Analyst.
