Profile

I completed a MSci Geography at the University of Bristol in 2015, and an MA Social Research at the ºù«Ӱҵ Methods Institute in 2019. Before joining the Department of Geography at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ in 2020, I worked in Students’ Unions supporting student activism and delivering training to student representatives.

Democratic Politics for Community Economies

There is an urgent need to rethink our economy in order to tackle the climate crisis and social injustices. Drawing on feminist economic thinkers such as Gibson-Graham, and political theorists including Ranciere, my research contributes to the growing literature on postcapitalism by asking how we can foster democratic economic alternatives. I look specifically at the potential of bioregionalism as a perspective for reshaping the economy. I use participatory, qualitative research methods to co-produce research that, as well as making a theoretical contribution, supports activists and practitioners. My research is funded by the ESRC 1+3 Scholarship and the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures Scholarship.
