You may be eligible to apply for a scholarship to fund your PhD, depending on your field of research, and whether you are a Home or Overseas applicant.

You must have applied for PhD study with the School of Geography and Planning in order to submit an application for a PhD scholarship. Please note the school study application deadline below.

The following deadlines maintain a fair and transparent process and ensure that funding is allocated in good time. We cannot accept late applications for these scholarship schemes.

School deadline for study applications: 5pm (UK time) on 8 January 2025
Scholarship application deadline: 5pm (UK time) on 22 January 2025

If you are applying to the Faculty of Social Science, you must ensure that you complete the additional 'Scholarship Application' section of the Postgraduate Online Application Form. This section of the form is only accessible to those who select a PhD start date of 1 September 2025 or later.

You should discuss the most appropriate scholarship for you, with your supervisor or school. Scholarships are very competitive, and your application will need to be tailored to the most appropriate source.

Decisions are made and communicated to applicants between the end of February to the end of April, depending on the scheme.
