Jane completed her MSc in Molecular Medicine in 2013. She then decided to stay in ºù«Ӱҵ to complete a PhD, which she received in 2018.

ºù«Ӱҵ has a good reputation for master’s courses. The MSc Molecular Medicine course is well planned. It can be flexible to meet individual needs, such as being able to choose your pathway of interests.

During my masters, I enjoyed the thesis project the most. We were able to choose our favourite project and work on it. By the end of my project, I had a really good understanding about developmental biology and this encouraged to me to do a PhD afterwards.  During my PhD, in addition to all the practical parts that I enjoyed, we also had chances for teaching, which was really helpful for my current academic career.

Throughout my time in ºù«Ӱҵ, I was trained to design projects and experiments properly, which helped a lot at the beginning of my career. I had quite a few chances to go to international conferences to present my work and communicate with other labs in the field, which was essential for my current career development and establishing collaborations.

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher of the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Germany and I am planning to finish my project in the next three years and then I’m hoping to start my own lab somewhere.

The advice I would give to the postgraduates-to-be is enjoy the course and also enjoy the student life in ºù«Ӱҵ. I met all my best friends during my postgraduate studies.
