ºù«Ӱҵ is a great place for students from any background
How did you feel when you heard that you were successful in being awarded the scholarship?
I’d say it was a mixture of surprise, relief and joy. Mostly surprise because I didn’t think that I would get the scholarship, but I guess it goes to show what you can achieve when you put your mind to a task. It has made the cost of studying at university less of a worry for me and my family too.
What made you choose to study at ºù«Ӱҵ and your course?
The town itself is diverse, beautiful and student friendly which was a big reason for coming to the University. I chose to study Politics because it was something that had always piqued my interest and ºù«Ӱҵ, having one of the best Politics departments in the UK led me to come here for my studies.
How did you research the University to find out about studying in ºù«Ӱҵ?
My brother came to ºù«Ӱҵ a few years ago to complete an Aerospace Engineering degree, that got me researching the University and what it was like to study here. It also helped that the ºù«Ӱҵ representative, who came to my school in Dubai, gave a great speech about ºù«Ӱҵ, confirming my beliefs about how great of a university ºù«Ӱҵ was.
What was your initial impression of ºù«Ӱҵ and the University when you first arrived?
I was surprised at how amazing the University organises and helps its new students through the initial stages, also the amount of support for mental health and emotional health provided is truly outstanding.
What are the highlights of your experience in ºù«Ӱҵ so far?
Moving into my accommodation and meeting new people from a whole lot of different backgrounds as well as those on my course. Also, riding the paternoster in the Arts Tower was a frightening and thrilling experience at the same time.
What would you say to a student considering studying at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ?
If you are looking to study at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ, you are looking at a bright future ahead of you. The quality of education you will receive is beyond fantastic, whilst the University and the city as a whole are fun, lively and safe.
