ºù«Ӱҵ is the place for me - I love my course, the environment, and community here
After my undergraduate degree in piano performance I wanted to further my education in music but with a psychological approach. I have been fascinated with the mind, emotions and how that influences our interactions with others. I found out about the University’s MA Psychology of Music course through an advisor. My advisor knew of all the Universities in the UK that had music psychology programs, and one of those was the University of ºù«Ӱҵ. When I heard that there were programs that connected music and psychology at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ I was thrilled. I knew this field was for me. Learning and interacting with different universities that had music psychology programs I decided on ºù«Ӱҵ’s MA Psychology of Music because of the high level of education I would receive, faculty expertise, friendly encounters and music community. This was the place for me!
So far, I love my course, the environment, and community here in ºù«Ӱҵ! The lectures are a place to develop my own thoughts and ideas in each subject we are studying. The professors encourage discussion and critical thinking. The environment here at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ is so friendly and
willing to answer any question. I love how there are people from all around the world. This diversity creates a place of openness to get to know people, their perspective, culture and life. I love the area of ºù«Ӱҵ - there are many music concerts, little shops, and parks nearby.
The way that I heard about the scholarship was through emails I received from the University. I appreciated how the University was informing me about scholarship opportunities. It showed they wanted me to achieve my educational pursuits and I feel extremely grateful that I have been awarded the International Merit Scholarship.
My advice to other students considering coming to the University of ºù«Ӱҵ is to take all chances to connect with those around you both at the University and within the community. As you make these relationships it will provide new perspectives to your studies and opportunities for your future. Lastly, explore the area around and near ºù«Ӱҵ. The area is beautiful. It will be an experience you will never forget!
My hope after studies is to further my research in music psychology with a company that develops on what type of music benefits both cognitive and emotional development. Along with research I want to expand my piano studio to help and guide individuals to improve their musical abilities and
engagement through certain techniques, skills and repertoire.
