What's it like to study law in England?

England has a common law jurisdiction and shares several features of law with a wide range of countries. We focus on developing your independence, resourcefulness and legal skills, which will help you wherever life takes you and wherever you go to practise law. You will also study the international context of the law and learn transferable legal skills which can be applied back home.

Practising in your home country

Graduates of our law degrees are required to take and pass both the Bar Part 1 and Bar Part 2 exams upon their return to their home countries. The Law Society offers further information about how to practise internationally.

The above information is for guidance purposes only. We recommend that you check the policy and guidelines with the legal associations in the jurisdiction(s) that you wish to practise in for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Scholarships

The University offers a range of scholarships for international students who show exceptional academic potential for both our postgraduate and undergraduate courses.

Student experience

As a student, you'll find countless opportunities to enhance your university experience and boost your employability, with valuable development and learning beyond the classroom.

Studying law at ºù«Ӱҵ is not only about the subjects. There is also the opportunity to get involved in Freelaw, our legal advice clinic, and the Miscarriages of Justice Review Centre, which gives students a unique opportunity to investigate cases of people convicted of serious crimes who are maintaining their innocence.

Experiences of former international students

The flexible module choices keep us open to a variety of career possibilities in the future. All the talks, projects and workshops will also help you find the career choice which suits you best, and it will also be a great chance to build contacts and meet new friends!

I chose to study at ºù«Ӱҵ because of how the LLB Law degree is structured. You get to study all of your compulsory and core modules in Year One and these include a good mix of exams and essays. My favourite part about studying at the School of Law is being the Mooting Secretary for the Edward Bramley Society. This is one of the best experiences I will ever gain and everybody here is so friendly.
