Mixing processes in pipes, sewers and the natural environment from theory to practice

This mixing studies group organised a two day workshop on mixing processes in pipes, sewers and the natural environment from theory to practice on 18-19 April 2023 at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ as part of the Modelling Mixing Mechanisms project, funded by the EPSRC. This event was organised in conjunction with the IAHR as an IAHR-UK Chapter meeting.

Keynote lecture at ISEH2021

The article communicates Professor Guymer's thoughts on the importance of understanding mixing processes for general audiences.

The interview was conducted as part of Professor Guymer's role as a keynote speaker at the IAHR2020 European Congress, hosted in Warsaw, Poland. .

ºù«Ӱҵ rivers dye tracing

This photograph was taken during a series of dye traces conducted by Professor Ian Guymer in 2007 for the Environment Agency.

These traces were conducted to investigate how much water would be needed to be released to dilute pollutants, such as those found during the June and July 2007 flooding earlier that year.

This dye tracing was reported in several local newspapers, including The Star, the Look Local, and the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

CITYBLUES

As part of CityBlues: practical implementation of ecological and engineering principles in integrated stormwater management, an EU Asia-Link (C2) programme project, Professor Ian Guymer conducted outreach activities in Vientiane, Laos. .

Teaching

CIV4300 Introduction to Solute Mixing covers the basics of mixing in the built and natural environment, with practical experience in dye tracing in Porter Brook.

It has been offered at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ since 2017.
