How to Register

Please fill in the correct form for your level. Make sure you have your passport at hand and that you can proceed to the online shop to pay the examination fee at the time of registration. You can find the relevant form for your level here:

Registration will open 10 January for the March session.

What are the DELF and DALF qualifications?

The DELF and DALF are official French language proficiency qualifications administered and awarded by the French Ministry of Education. They are valid for life and recognised internationally.

They are available at 6 different levels of proficiency aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ():

  • Diplôme Elementaire de Langue Française (DELF), for beginners and intermediate learners: 
    • A1: Discovery
    • A2: Basic User
    • B1: Independent
    • B2: Independent and spontaneous in regular interactions
  • Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF), for advanced-level candidates:
    • C1: Proficient
    • C2: Near-native

You can take the DELF Tout Public (A1-A2-B1-B2) levels with us at ºù«Ӱҵ University.

We will run other sessions and other levels in future. DELF B1 is the minimum level accepted for the French naturalisation process and DELF B2 is required by most French universities for students who want to enrol on a course.

Who can take the DELF/DALF French exams?

Different versions of the test are available, with adjusted topics and themes, but all at the same levels:

  • DELF-DALF Tout Public (Adults/Young adults 18 years and over)

  • DELF Junior (Secondary school students (aged 12 to 18)

At the moment, here at ºù«Ӱҵ, we only offer the DELF Tout Public.

You don’t have to prove your level or how long you have studied the language. You can enrol directly on the exam at the level you require.

Each exam assesses four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

  • DELF A1: £95
  • DELF A2: £100
  • DELF B1: £135
  • DELF B2: £150

Dates

In 2025 we will run sessions in March, June and October.

March:

Enrolment opens 10th January and closes 2nd February for the March session. Registration forms can be found here from 10th January 2025.

Written examinations:

The dates for the written examinations are:

A1 - Friday 14th March 2025 - 1.45 -3.20pm

A2 - Monday 17th March 2025 - 1.45 - 3.40pm

B1 - Thursday 27th March 2025 - 1.45 - 3.55pm

B2 - Wednesday 26th March 2025 - 1.45 - 4.30pm

Oral examinations: 

Oral Examinations exact dates will be communicated in early March.

Deadline for registration: 2 February 2025.

June:

Written examinations:

The dates for the Written Examinations are:

A1: Monday 2 June 2025, 1.45-3.20pm

A2: Tuesday 3 June 2025, 1.45-3.40pm

B1: Thursday 5 June 2025, 1.45-3.55pm

B2: Monday 16 June 2025, 1.45-4.30pm

Oral Examinations exact dates will be communicated mid-May.

Deadline for registration: 4 May 2025

October:

Written examinations:

The dates for the Written Examinations are:

A1: Friday 10 October 2025, 1.45-3.20pm

A2: Wednesday 1 October 2025, 1.45-3.40pm

B1: Thursday 2 October 2025, 1.45-3.55pm

B2: Thursday 9 October 2025, 1.45-4.30pm

Oral Examinations exact dates will be late September (for dates mid-October).

Deadline for registration: 1 September 2025.

How would a DELF/DALF qualification benefit you?

A DELF certification will help you to:

  • Get an official statement of your French level, which can be used for French nationality applications (B1 minimum required) and many other purposes

  • Study at university in France and in other French-speaking countries

  • Advance your career with an official qualification on your CV

  • Prove how much your French has improved

  • Challenge yourself and revise what you know
