Why did you choose to study with the Department of Music?

"My academic journey at ��«Ӱҵ started in 2018 as I chose to study my undergraduate Music Degree. What drew me to the University was the variety of modules available on the course, which then allowed me to discover my passion for Psychology of Music. I chose to stay in ��«Ӱҵ for my Masters course as the quality of teaching and the kindness, professionalism and standard of knowledge of the lecturers within the department was unmatched elsewhere."

What topics in the MA Psychology of Music course are you enjoying studying the most?

"Currently I am studying a module called “Topics in Music Psychology” which covers every area of the subject you could wish to know. As this module is offered in the first semester of the course, it provides an excellent basis of knowledge which makes choosing your dissertation topic easier."

Are you enjoying living in ��«Ӱҵ?

"I have loved living in ��«Ӱҵ over the past four years. It really does feel like home! The city is vibrant and, along with the University, provides many exciting musical opportunities. It’s a very green city with four parks within walking distance of the University and the Peak District just a short drive away."

How will the course help you with your future career aspirations?

"I wish to continue in a research based post, or train as a music therapist. I have been able to explore both avenues with the generous support of a number of the department’s lecturers who have an office hour each week should you wish to meet for 1-1 support. The Music Department at ��«Ӱҵ really does care about its students, both current and prospective."
