Why did you choose to study at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ?

I chose to study at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ due to seeing the amazing student reviews and the awards my chosen department had received at the time. Upon further research I was able to see the wide range of study abroad opportunities and scholarships offered to help students not only with academic life but personal life.

What do you enjoy most about your dual course, and why?

I love the ability to be able to study Japanese Language and then be able to expand my knowledge of Japanese culture and history through my dual degree. It is also enjoyable to be able to have the difference in my day with attending history lectures and then my language classes. It is often a welcome break to switch between the different content areas.

What’s the best thing about being a dual honours student?

The best thing about being a dual honours student is the ability to meet a wide range of students and also to become really immersed in the student experience and learning, I believe my degree has helped enriched my learning skills and my cognitive abilities, and I feel as though that is down to choosing a dual honours degree.

What skills have you developed during your course that will be useful after you graduate?

I have learnt best ways to problem solve which is imperative not only in everyday life but also in a work environment. My academic skills in terms of writing, speaking and presenting have become more honed which will be highly useful in work environments, when dealing with other colleagues or when there are opportunities for promotions.

Would you recommend studying for a dual honours at the University of ºù«Ӱҵ?

I would recomend studying a dual honours degree if you enjoy a wide range of academic areas as the dual degree gives you the ability to study multiple subjects in a way that's not overwhelming. In addition to this, a dual honours degree is amazing for students who might not always have a pre-set goal in mind in terms of what job they would like to pursue after graduation. I also believe that a dual honours degree enables students to make better social connections across the board.

What career path do you intend to follow and what’s the end career goal?

I intend to utilise my degree to move permanently to Japan and be an English teacher to begin with. I hope to then move from being an English teacher to being able to teach history to secondary school age students or become a history lecturer surrounding my chosen speciality which is modern warfare.
