Mode of attendance

The module will begin with an introductory day of online learning, workshops and lectures on Saturday 16 September 2023.  You will receive further support through online learning materials, tutoring and periodic online tutorials throughout the module.

Aim

To develop an understanding of the neuro-physiological processes involved in visual function.

1. Structure and function of the human brain with special reference to vision and eye movements
2. Cortical processing of visual information
3. Spatial and temporal aspects of vision
4. Normal development of the visual system
5. Colour perception
6. Binocular disparity
7. Motion processing
8. Plasticity of the developing visual system
9. Amblyopia


Who can study this module

This module is available to anybody with a relevant qualification in the eye care profession. Currently, we have Low Vision nurses, Optometrists and Ophthalmologists studying with us. 


Awards

If you study any two standalone modules from MMedSci Vision and Strabismus programme, these could be combined to enable the award of a Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits). Any four standalone modules would enable the award of a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) as long as the credits are gained within a five-year time span.

You will receive a certificate of completion once you have successfully completed the module.
