Part Time Maths Teaching Position
The School for Young People at the Confucius Institute, Global Engagement, also known as Star Mandarin School, is seeking dedicated individuals, who can plan, prepare and deliver the subject tuition to school pupils, over Saturdays during school term times.
Hours: 2 – 4 hours per week, September 2024 - July 2025.
Pay: University Grade 6.1 plus holiday pay.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pass an enhanced DBS check, attend job induction, take online training in Safeguarding Children, and keep the University Mandatory Training up to date.
- Prepare teaching and learning materials based on national curriculum and study programmes for the subject.
- Deliver tuition, following the lesson templates provided.
- Help students improve their subject skills through individual work, group work and homework.
- Follow the Teachers Handbook, aiming for high standard teaching and learning activities.
- Take class registers and attendance, encourage positive behaviour, provide guidance and give approved discipline.
- Maintain a safe study place by monitoring students’ welfare, safety, health, behavioural and emotional issues and reporting concerns.
- Act as a fire marshal in case of fire or during fire drill, carry out the classroom fire evacuation procedure during face-to-face teaching.
- Involve parents in the learning process of their children and hold parents' meetings.
- Evaluate students’ performance, and communicate with parents to inform them of their children’s progress.
Essential skills:
- For Maths Teacher: Excellent understanding of the Mathematics study programmes in the UK;
- Being proactive, enthusiastic and highly motivated;
- Able to build a close rapport with pupils and efficient communications with parents;
